Brooklyn Treble Choir and Artistic Director Liz Geisewite present In Time.
Join us as we contemplate the march of time and the seasons of life. Time is beyond our control; we cannot slow it down when we want to hold on to a moment nor can we speed it up to get through the difficult periods that seem to stretch on interminably. We may choose to look back to the past or forward to the future, but time, and our lives within it, continue regardless. This music reminds us to respect and accept the passage of time and the vicissitudes of life as we learn to live fully in the present without regretting the past nor fearing the future.
Central to the program are three works by the great Imogen Holst: “Welcome Joy and Welcome Sorrow,” “The Sun’s Journey,” and “In Heaven It is Always Autumn.” Other pieces include Jennifer Lucy Cook’s “Time,” Ysaye Barnwell’s “There is a Balm in Gilead,” “Come Day, Come Night” by Stephen Chatman - and more musical and “timely” musical gems.
